About the mission
Position Overview (Temp-to-Hire after 520 hours)
Proman Staffing is seeking a safety-focused Forklift Operator to join our manufacturing and warehouse team. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of powered industrial trucks to load, unload, move, and stage materials throughout the facility. The ideal candidate will have forklift experience, strong attention to safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial equipment.
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing trucks.
- Transport raw materials and finished goods throughout the facility.
- Supply production lines with materials as needed.
- Perform inventory transactions using warehouse management systems and on-board forklift computers.
- Verify material quantities and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Conduct daily pre-shift equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns.
- Follow established procedures for battery charging, battery changes, and propane tank exchanges.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Assist with warehouse and production activities as needed.
- Comply with all safety, quality, and operational procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous forklift operating experience required.
- Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
- Basic computer skills and experience using inventory or warehouse management systems.
- Ability to read and follow written work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, and operate equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent forklift operation throughout the shift.
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse setting.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, including hot and cold conditions.
- Noise levels may require hearing protection.
