Remanufacturing Technician “Reman Tech”
Position Summary
The Remanufacturing Technician is responsible for the disassembly, inspection, cleaning, parts identification, assembly, and rebuilding of automotive transmissions according to established procedures and quality standards. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to work effectively in a production environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Production Responsibilities
- Verify transmission identification using company-approved identification systems.
- Disassemble transmissions and properly sort components for cleaning and processing.
- Separate internal, external, and small components according to established procedures.
- Inspect transmission components and determine reusability based on quality standards.
- Identify and remove damaged or non-conforming parts.
- Order required replacement parts using company catalogs, databases, and inventory systems.
- Assemble and rebuild transmissions according to approved assembly procedures and specifications.
- Ensure all completed units meet quality and production requirements.
- Maintain awareness of work-in-progress inventory and proactively manage workload to meet production goals.
Communication
- Communicate with parts and inventory personnel regarding component availability and delays.
- Collaborate with supervisors and technical support personnel to resolve production or technical issues.
- Assist in identifying root causes of quality and warranty concerns.
- Report procedural or quality issues as they arise.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One to two years of experience in automotive repair, mechanical assembly, manufacturing, remanufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment required.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Positive attitude and strong team-oriented mindset.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
- Reliable transportation.
Working Conditions
This position is primarily performed in a manufacturing, remanufacturing, warehouse, or shop environment. Employees may be required to work in varying temperatures, stand for extended periods, and operate machinery, tools, or company equipment. Occasional outdoor work may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
- Frequent standing and walking throughout the workday.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders, and work in various positions.
- Ability to read work instructions and visually inspect parts and assemblies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment and comply with all safety standards.
