Job Title: Mixing and Extrusion Technician 

Department: Extrusion 

Reports To: Extrusion Lead 

Position Summary:
The Mixing and Extrusion Technician is responsible for preparing ceramic materials, operating mixing and extrusion equipment, and ensuring consistent quality of ceramic batches and extruded products. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to production specifications, and a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and cleanliness in all processing operations. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Material Preparation and Mixing:
Measure and weigh raw materials according to batch formulas and production instructions. Operate mixing equipment to combine ceramic powders, binders, and additives to achieve uniform consistency. Monitor and record material properties such as viscosity, moisture content, and batch uniformity. Clean and maintain mixers and related equipment to prevent contamination between batches. 

Extrusion Operations:
Set up and operate extrusion machines to form ceramic materials into desired shapes or profiles. Adjust dies, feed rates, pressures, and temperatures to maintain product quality and process efficiency. Inspect extruded parts for surface defects, dimensional accuracy, and consistency. Handle and transport extruded components carefully to prevent deformation or damage prior to drying or firing. 

Quality Control and Documentation:
Follow all quality control procedures and record process parameters for each batch and extrusion run. Identify and report process deviations, equipment malfunctions, or nonconforming materials to supervision. Maintain accurate production logs, batch records, and material traceability documentation. 

Equipment and Facility Maintenance:
Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance on mixers, extruders, and related equipment. Assist maintenance personnel with troubleshooting and repairs as needed. Ensure all tools and materials are properly stored and organized in designated areas. 

Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and environmental regulations for handling ceramic powders and chemicals. Participate in safety training and report any hazards or near-miss incidents promptly. 

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience in ceramics manufacturing, chemical processing, or extrusion operations preferred. Ability to read and interpret batch sheets, production drawings, and technical instructions. Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with production machinery operation and troubleshooting. Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality. Basic math and computer skills for data entry and recordkeeping. 

Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and operate equipment for extended periods. Frequent lifting of materials up to 50 lbs. Manual handling of raw powders and finished ceramic components. Ability to work in environments with moderate noise and dust (with protective equipment provided). 

Work Environment:
Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to raw materials and production machinery. May require use of respirators, gloves, and other PPE depending on materials handled. Collaboration with production, maintenance, and quality teams to meet daily production goals.
