Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facility systems used in the production insulation products. This role ensures equipment reliability, production efficiency, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment, including extruders, cutters, conveyors, compressors, and material handling systems
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime
- Repair or replace faulty components such as motors, pumps, valves, bearings, sensors, and electrical controls
- Maintain building systems including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and general facility maintenance
- Perform routine inspections to identify potential issues and safety hazards
- Support equipment installation, upgrades, and process improvements
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately
- Coordinate with production teams to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), safety, and environmental procedures at all times
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance work areas
- Assist with inventory control of spare parts and tools
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency repairs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred
- 2+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience with mechanical systems; electrical knowledge strongly preferred
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Basic computer skills for maintenance systems and reporting
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience in foam, insulation, plastics, or extrusion manufacturing
- Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, and industrial controls
- Welding and fabrication skills
- Preventive Maintenance (PM) program experience
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in hot, noisy, or dusty manufacturing environments
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on-call shifts as required
Work Environment
- Manufacturing plant with exposure to machinery, moving equipment, and industrial tools
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
